A Storybook of Other People’s Hobbies

Has it ever occurred to you that your beloved hobby might be rather boring? Or that you might be boring? Or that you AND your hobby might be boring, together? I’ve thought about that too, but have recently discovered several odd characters with plain-Jane interests who have had unbelievable experiences, and thought that if I told their stories it might motivate our hobbies to become less boring. Take a gander at this:

Stamp collecting. Boring, right? Not when you spend your family’s life savings on a luxury trip to Singapore to steal back a controversial, pre-war German stamp from a Mexican diplomat.

Singing in a choir. Yawn. But this singer is mute, never spoken in her life, and nobody in the choir even suspects that she’s not doing her part to help win the upcoming regional choral competition.

Gardening? Shoot me now. But gardening on Mars? Now you’re talkin’. What did this hobbyist have to put up with to convince NASA officials that his wheat germ will be the cornerstone of food production in space?

See? Interesting stuff hey? So here, dear reader, is a blog dedicated to the incredible stories of other people and their hobbies. May their tribulations have a profound butt-kicking effect on our own favourite time-wasting past-times.

Ciao for now.
